Es la hora de intercambiar! / It's swap time!

Get ready Ontario, it’s almost time to swap! That’s right, the Inland Empire Food Swap is coming back to the garden next month on May 31st from 10 am to 12 pm. Last time we has this event at the garden (in early March) we had a good turn out with "swappers" bringing a variety of items such as honey, produce, and nuts to name a few. Garden members mentioned what a great idea this was and how they would like the event to come around more often. So, what is the swap?
The IE Food Swap is a great opportunity to swap your homemade, homegrown, and foraged creations with other swap participants. There is no cash allowed at the food swap- your products become your currency. The event is free and everyone is welcomed to participate so long as you bring something that you made, grew, or foraged yourself. However, PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. You can register and find more information about the event HERE.
Hope to see you there!

Nuestro Aniversario! / Our Anniversary!

What a year, what a party, what many new exciting things we have to look forward to! Thank you so much to everybody who made it out to the garden on April 5th to help celebrate HdV’s 1 year anniversary! The turnout was great. Whether guests were there to watch one of the many performances (Aztec dance, classic ballet, karate, Zumba, or salsa) or wanted to sit in on one of our free workshops (Agriculture, pest control, composting, or irrigation) we hope everybody had an amazing time! And with delicious food, lively music, and activities for the kids it was probably hard not to.
Even though we’ve officially been in the Ontario area for over a year now HdV is still blown away by the overwhelming support we continue to receive from the community. The entire HdV family would like to express their dearest and sincerest thanks to everybody who donated to this event in one way or another- to all our food vendors, tables, chairs, tent/ canopy providers, performers, flower and produce donors, set up/clean up volunteers, and so many more. As the garden continues to grow we look forward to working further alongside the City of Ontario and surrounding communities to offer fresh, local grown produce and a safe communal space to build relationships and share knowledge.
Thank you, again to everybody who made this event possible. Huerta del Valle would not be the organization it is today without the continuous support of friends, families, clubs, organizations, community volunteers, and business like you!
