Domingo de Celebración / Celebration Sunday

Durante el largo proceso de tener una idea, el desarrollo de una estrategia, estando en colaboración con la ciudad, y muchas otras tareas que tenían que ser completadas antes de finalizar el acuerdo de la tierra HdV ha tenido la suerte de tener un pequeño (pero totalmente comprometido) grupo de personas que han apoyado, alentado y motivado unos al otro. El domingo 20 de abril todos nos reunimos en el sitio del jardín para celebrar no sólo el acuerdo, sino también para captar el significado de tal acontecimiento y lo que significa para todos nosotros.

 

 

Nos juntamos a las 10am y el grupo adoptó la belleza de la naturaleza alrededor de nuestro sitio al sentarse en un círculo en el sácate de nuestro vecino- El parque Bon View. Tomamos turnos hablando con cada miembro compartiendo cuál era su visión del jardín o lo que esperan que se cumpla una vez que los residentes comiencen a plantar. La conversación era en español e inglés sin esfuerzo y pronto había mucha risa y pocas lágrimas mientras cantamos una canción, escuchamos un poema, e hicimos una actividad de grupo. Era una tarde espiritual con cada uno de nosotros tomando el tiempo a acercarnos uno al otro y mas importante acercarnos a la tierra. Después de caminar por el sitio y tener la oportunidad de sentir la tierra a través de nuestros dedos, todos disfrutamos del almuerzo en la sombra de los árboles mientras continuamos a compartir nuestras experiencias y sobre todo la alegría en la celebración de los frutos de nuestro trabajo.

 

Throughout the long journey of having an idea, developing a strategy, working with city, and countless other tasks that had to be completed before the land lease agreement was finalized HdV has been lucky enough to have a small but totally committed group of people who have supported, encouraged, and motivated each other along the way. On Sunday, April 20^th we all got together at the garden site to celebrate not only the finalized land lease agreement but also to capture the significance of such a milestone and what it means to all of us.

 

 

 

Rounding up at 10am the group embraced the beauty of the nature around our site by sitting in a circle on the grass of our neighbor's lawn- Bon View Park. We went around having each member share what their vision of the garden was or what they hope it would be once the residents started planting. Spanish and English conversation flowed effortlessly as well as tears and laughter while we sang a song, listened to a poem, and performed a group activity. It was a very heartwarming and spiritual afternoon as we took time to connect more to each other and more importantly the land. After walking around the site and getting a chance to feel the dirt run through our fingers we all enjoyed lunch in the shade as we continued to share our experiences and more importantly our joy in celebrating the fruits of our labor.
